A general store for funding amateur rocketry research.

About Us
It’s a well known fact that making rockets is an expensive business. The way I see it, there are costs much more expensive than materials when you are trying to send something to space.
My belief is that the two costs that dominate the rocket construction process are engineering talent and production volume. Rockets & Stuff is my take on a solution to those two costs. R&S is a general purpose storefront that isolates the materials and construction processes of rocket development, applies them to consumer goods, and uses any profits from the process to fund rocket construction.
This does two things:
-
Production Capacity
We create a flowing river of money into the same building as our rocketry development. Let’s say we have a monthly volume of 100 CNC-milled coasters. This gives us all of the justification we need to purchase a CNC machine that will allow us to cut these coasters and deliver them to customers. The end result is a purchased CNC mill and breaking even on the coasters. We now have CNC mill capabilities for rocketry research.
-
Engineering Talent
Every minute spent designing, iterating, and manufacturing these products is going to produce skills that transfer directly to our rocket development. The idea is that after designing and manufacturing a lot of consumer goods, we have battle-tested our ability to produce parts with a given technique or machine. Let’s say we create our own injection molding system. By creating these consumer goods, we have now tested this hardware and are much better equipped to use it in experimental rocketry environments.
The idea is to take the materials and processes that define our experimental field. They are covered in a deep fog of unknown and uncertainty. Every product we design, manufacture, and sell using a material or process that is within that cloud will shine just a little light toward where we are going.
